    Congratulations to Lady Blackcat Sophomore Lexi King for being named the Southern Illinoisan Softball Player of the Year! Lexi helped lead the Lady Blackcats to the schools 2nd 1A State Championship in school history and is a 1st Team All-Stater. However, this is the 1st time in school history that the Blackcats have both the boys AND girls player of the year! It's a GREAT year to be a BLACKCAT! We are PROUD of you!

    Congratulations to Blackcat Braden Webb for being named the 2017 M.V.P. of the Black Diamond Conference West in basketball! He becomes just the 3rd player in school history to earn the award! Braden averaged 20 points per game and is the 4th leading scorer in school history as a junior as he helped lead the Blackcats to the 2017 Conference Championship!

They defeated Hardin County, Pope County, and Eldorado High School to advance to the IHSA Sectionals! The tournament also included Gallatin County, Vienna, Crab Orchard, and Carrier Mills.

  • GOREVILLE SCHOOLS APPROVES NEW ADDITION

    The Goreville C.U.S.D. #1 Board of Education, in their December meeting, approved a new building project to add a multi-purpose facility to the Early Learning Center and Goreville Elementary School that will serve as an area for assemblies, recess, physical education, and elementary athletics. “The facility will be designed to accommodate the growth in not only the student numbers, but also provide a gymnasium that actually meets code and playing regulations for middle school size students.” said architect Michael Baysinger.

  • DR. WEBB NAMED "SUPERINTENDENT OF DISTINCTION" BY STATE

    Goreville CUSD #1 Superintendent Dr. Steve Webb has been selected as the 2015 Superintendent of Distinction for the Illinois Association of School Administrators Shawnee Region consisting of southernmost Illinois’ 11 counties. Dr. Webb is currently serving his 16th year as a School Superintendent and is a member of the Governing Board of the American Association of School Administrators and is the former President of the Illinois Association of School Administrators and the Association of Illinois Rural and Small Schools (AIRSS).
