The Blackcats were crowned champions of the IHSA Regional, Sectional, Supersectional and were set to compete at the IHSA State Tournament, when it was abruptly cancelled due to the threat of the spread of the Coronavirus. With a school record 35-2, the Blackcats had to settle for being named a "Final 4 Finalist" in just their 2nd ever trip to state. We are PROUD of our BLACKCATS!
The Lady Blackcats won the Black Diamond Conference Championship, the IHSA Regional Championship and ended the season as one of the last "Sweet 16" teams in state! Congratulations on a GREAT season!
Congratulations to the Goreville Early Learning Center as they were awarded the "Gold Circle of Quality" by the Illinois State Board of Education! The Gold Circle is the highest designation possible and it is the 3rd consecutive year that we have been awarded this designation.
Congratulations to Braden Webb as he is now the all-time basketball scoring leader in Goreville High School's recorded history! Webb passed Greg Cruse who has had the record of 1,866 since 1974! Jenny Hendee had the highest overall recorded total with 1,868 in the 1990's.
The Goreville Marching Blackcats were AWESOME yesterday performing in the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, D.C. on national television!
Congratulations to Goreville FFA members Summar Albright and Jacob Calhoon for winning State Proficiency Awards at the University of Illinois last weekend! Jacob won State in Grain Production and Summar won State in Landscape Management! They both now compete for a National Title in Indianapolis, IN.
Congratulations to the Goreville Elementary School Drama Club for their GREAT PERFORMANCE of "Peter Pan: The Musical" this weekend! The gym was packed and we broadcast the performance for the first time on the Blackcats Network because we are PROUD of you and your efforts!
Congratulations to the Goreville High School Blackcats Scholar Bowl Team for winning the IHSA 1A Regional Championship! They defeated Hardin County, Pope County, and Eldorado High School to advance to the IHSA Sectionals! The tournament also included Gallatin County, Vienna, Crab Orchard, and Carrier Mills.
Goreville CUSD 1 has been recognized as a Top 50 in the Nation "Future Ready School" with our work and progress toward our Technology Implementation Plan! Goreville Schools implemented our "1:1 Technology Initiative" Phase 1 that included Chromebooks for all high school students and enhanced broadband access in 2015 and will complete Phases 2 and 3 for the 2016-2017 school year that will provide IPads for K-4 students and Chromebooks for students in grades 5-8! We are PROUD of our school!
In 2014, Goreville Schools was designated as a SMART Technology Showcase School for their integration of SMART technology throughout the district. In 2015, they will take that a step forward with the launching of their 1:1 Technology Initiative
Goreville Elementary School and Goreville High School have been notified by SMART Technologies based out of Calgary, Canada, that they have been chosen as a "2012 Showcase School"!
