    THE GOREVILLE FFA ARE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS! For the first time in school history, the Goreville High School FFA was named the #1 Club in America in Building Communities at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis! We are PROUD OF YOU!

  • LADY BLACKCATS 2ND IN STATE!!!

    The defending State Champions defeated New Athens 4-1 to earn the program's 5th trip to Peoria for a chance at a 3rd State Championship!!! They now play Friday, June 1 at the East Side Centre in East Peoria at 10 AM!!! GO LADY CATS!!!

  • BLACKCATS 3RD IN STATE!!!

    For the 2nd straight year, the Blackcats AND Lady Blackcats are in the "Final 4" and will travel to Peoria this weekend! The Blackcats defeated Altamont 19-2 and now play Friday at noon at Dozer Park! GO BLACKCATS!!!!!

  • BLACKCATS TAKE 4TH IN STATE!

    The Goreville Blackcats won their first IHSA Sectional in school history and then their first IHSA Supersectional in school history to earn a trip to their first ever IHSA State Tournament! They were defeated by eventual champion Okawville and Bloomington Catholic to bring home 4th Place in state out of 211 schools in 1A! This Blackcats team won the Sesser-Valier Tournament for the first time in over a decade AND had 3 players score over 1,000 in their career (Peyton Massey and Tanner Dunn) including Braden Webb who became the All-Time scoring leader with over 2,000 career points! To say we are proud this record-breaking team is an understatement! WHAT A GREAT RIDE!

  • BRADEN WEBB NAMED 1ST TEAM ALL-STATE!

    Goreville Blackcat stand-out Braden Webb has become the first boys basketball player in school history to be named 1st Team All-State by both the Associated Press AND the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association! Webb has been the leading scorer for the Blackcats all four years of high school where he was also named the "MVP" of the Black Diamond Conference his junior and now his senior year and 1st Team All-Conference all four years! We are PROUD of you!

  • BLACKCATS ARE SECTIONAL CHAMPIONS FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY!

    The Blackcats defeated Webber Township and Sesser-Valier to win their first ever IHSA Sectional Championship! The Cats now play Tuesday, March 6 at the SIU Arena at 6 PM. GO BLACKCATS!!!

  • WEBB BECOMES ALL-TIME SCORING LEADER!

    Congratulations to Braden Webb as he is now the all-time basketball scoring leader in Goreville High School's recorded history! Webb passed Greg Cruse who has had the record of 1,866 since 1974! Jenny Hendee had the highest overall recorded total with 1,868 in the 1990's.

  • DURINGER WINS ART CONTEST!

    Congratulations to Goreville High School Senior Savannah Duringer for winning a gold and three silvers at the Scholastic Art Awards Regional held at the Cedarhurst Center for the Arts in Mt. Vernon, IL! She will now compete with her gold medal painting shown below in New York!

  • BLACKCATS ARE SESSER-VALIER HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS!!!

    The Blackcats defeated Marissa-Coulterville, Steeleville, Christopher, and the host Sesser-Valier to claim the Sesser-Valier Holiday Tournament Championship! The Blackcats won the tournament 6 times in its history, but had not won the tournament since 2001.

    The Lady Blackcats defeated the Hardin-Calhoun Warriors 2-0 in 9 innings to win the schools 2nd State Softball Championship and 3rd overall in the past 5 years!!!!

  • KING NAMED SOUTHERN ILLINOIS SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR!

    Congratulations to Lady Blackcat Sophomore Lexi King for being named the Southern Illinoisan Softball Player of the Year! Lexi helped lead the Lady Blackcats to the schools 2nd 1A State Championship in school history and is a 1st Team All-Stater. However, this is the 1st time in school history that the Blackcats have both the boys AND girls player of the year! It's a GREAT year to be a BLACKCAT! We are PROUD of you!

    The Blackcats fell to Peoria Heights 4-3 in the semifinals but bounced back to defeat Somonauk to take 3rd Place in State!!!

  • WEBB NAMED CONFERENCE MVP!

    Congratulations to Blackcat Braden Webb for being named the 2017 M.V.P. of the Black Diamond Conference West in basketball! He becomes just the 3rd player in school history to earn the award! Braden averaged 20 points per game and is the 4th leading scorer in school history as a junior as he helped lead the Blackcats to the 2017 Conference Championship!

  • ALBRIGHT AND CALHOON FFA STATE CHAMPS!

    Congratulations to Goreville FFA members Summar Albright and Jacob Calhoon for winning State Proficiency Awards at the University of Illinois last weekend! Jacob won State in Grain Production and Summar won State in Landscape Management! They both now compete for a National Title in Indianapolis, IN.
