  •   WEBB NAMED 2011 "CAPTAIN" 1ST TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE

    Goreville High School Lady Blackcat Alison Webb, a Junior, was named 1st Team All-Conference West in Volleyball in the Black Diamond Conference!  She is also the first Goreville player to receive the designation of "Captain" of the All-Conference Team.

  • 2011 LADY BLACKCATS VOLLEYBALL REGIONAL CHAMPS FOR THE 1ST TIME IN HISTORY!

    In only their second year of fielding a varsity volleyball team, the Lady Blackcats are now Illinois High School Association Regional Champions!  The Lady Cats defeated Shawnee in straight sets to claim their first ever Regional title.  The Lady Cats were then defeated by Ziegler-Royalton in the IHSA Sectional Tournament to end their season at 20-11.  To view the article in the Southern Illinoisan, click here.

    LADY CATS VOLLEYBALL 2010 SEC CONFERENCE CHAMPS!

    The Goreville Lady Blackcats Volleyball Team has won the 2010 South Egyptian Conference Tournament and has won the SEC Regular Season Championship by going undefeated this season!  In the tournament, held at Goreville, the Lady Cats defeated Dongola in the semifinals and Shawnee in the finals to win the championship.

  • 2011 LADY CATS VOLLEYBALL TVILLE INVITATIONAL CHAMPS!!! 

    The Goreville Lady Blackcats Volleyball Team defeated Gallatin County, Wayne City, and the host Thompsonville High School to claim their first ever Thompsonville Invitational Tournament Championship!  Rhiannon Pyle, Ellen Wilke, Kaylee Webb, and Alison Webb were named to the All-Tournament Team.

    GOREVILLE HIGH SCHOOL PLAYS INAUGURAL VOLLEYBALL MATCH
     
     
    For the first time in Goreville history, Goreville High School has competed in Volleyball and has already won their first match!  The Lady Blackcats Volleyball Team played in the Crab Orchard J.V. Tournament where they defeated the host Crab Orchard Lady Trojans but fell to both Massac County and Carrier Mills.  Although Volleyball at the high school level is new this year, the game is not new to the freshmen and sophomores who make up the team.  Goreville started volleyball in the Junior High in 2007 in order to prepare for this day and even won a Regional Championship last year!
     

    Congratulations Lady Blackcats and good luck the rest of the season!!!

     

  • 2012 LADY BLACKCATS THOMPSONVILLE INVITATIONAL CHAMPS!  

    The Lady Blackcats Volleyball Team defeated Gallatin County, Wayne City, Thompsonville, and Carrier Mills to win the Thompsonville Invitational Tournament Championship!  Kaylee Webb and Ellen Wilke were both named to the All-Tournament Team.

  • WEBB NAMED ALL-TOURNAMENT! 

    The Lady Blackcats Volleyball Team went 2-2 at the 2012 Trico Invitational Tournament and Alison Webb was named All-Tournament.

  • LADY CATS VOLLEYBALL TAKES 2ND - WEBB AND WILKE ALL-TOURNAMENT  

    The Goreville Volleyball Team defeated Zeigler-Royalton, Christopher, and Elverado before falling to Crab Orchard at the Elverado Round Robin Tournament.  Lady Blackcat Seniors Alison Webb and Ellen Wilke were named All-Tournament.  The Lady Cats are now 10-2 on the season.

  • WEBB AND PYLE NAMED ALL-SOUTH!  

    Lady Blackcat volleyball players Junior Alison Webb and Senior Rhiannon Pyle have been named "All-South" by the Southern Illinois Coaches Association! Alison was a Black Diamond Conference 1st Team All-Conference selection and also was named All-Tournament at the Crab Orchard, Trico, and Thompsonville tournaments.  She had 192 kills, 60 aces, 49 blocks and a 34% kill percentage.  Rhiannon was a Black Diamond Conference 2nd Team selection and named All-Tournament at the Crab Orchard and Thompsonville tournaments.  She had 133 digs and 48 aces.  Alison and Rhiannon are the first Goreville volleyball players to be named All-South since the inception of the program.  To view the entire All-South selection article in the Southern Illinoisan, click here

       PYLE SIGNS TO PLAY VOLLEYBALL AT MCKENDREE UNIVERSITY

  • 2011 BLACKCATS EARN POST-SEASON AWARDS

    Several Blackcats were honored by the Black Diamond Conference in the fall sports this year.  Junior Lady Blackcat Alison Webb was named 1st Team All-Conference West in Volleyball and is the first player since moving to the BDC to be named Captain of the 1st Team.  Rhiannon Pyle was named 2nd Team All-Conference and Kaylee Webb was named Honorable Mention.  Blackcat Senior Clint Cole was named 2nd Team Defense in Football and Dallas Melot was named Honorable Mention.

  • ALISON WEBB SIGNS WITH LOGAN IN 2 SPORTS

     

    Goreville Lady Blackcat standout Alison Webb signed a national letter of intent to play volleyball and basketball at John A. Logan College in Carterville, IL on a full ride scholarship.  Logan, an NJCAA Division I program, is a member of the Great Rivers Athletic Conference.  The 6'1" center for the basketball team and middle hitter for the volleyball team, was the first Goreville girl's basketball player in school history to be named Illinois Basketball Coaches Association 1st Team All-State and "MVP" of the Black Diamond Conference West as a junior and senior in basketball.  She was named 1st Team All-Conference and All-South her sophomore, junior and senior years and scored over 1,000 points in her career averaging over 18 points and 9 rebounds per game.  She helped lead the Lady Blackcats to 4 IHSA Regional Championships and 3 Sectional championship "Elite 8" appearances for the first time in history.  In volleyball, Alison was named All-State Special Mention, Captain of the Black Diamond West and All-South as a junior and senior.  In just 3 seasons of the varsity volleyball program, Alison helped lead the Lady Blackcats to back-to-back IHSA Regional Championships and the school's first "Sweet 16" appearance.  Alison is also a starter for the Lady Blackcats softball team, winners of the 2012 IHSA 1A State Championship, and competed in the high jump for the girls track team.  In total, she has been an integral part of 10 IHSA Regional Championships, 5 IHSA Sectional Championships, 2 IHSA Supersectional Championships, 1 IHSA State Championship, 1 IHSA 3rd Place, 6 Conference Championships, 2 Conference Tournament Championships, and was named to 12 different All-Tournament Teams as a varsity starter combined.  Alison is the daughter of Steve and Angie Webb of rural Goreville.

  • 2013 LADY BLACKCATS BACK-TO-BACK REGIONAL CHAMPS!    

    The Goreville Lady Blackcats Volleyball Team, just one year from winning their first ever Illinois High School Association Regional Championship, defeated Crab Orchard in three sets to take the 2012 IHSA Regional Championship!  Alison Webb had a career-high school record 21 kills and Kaylee Webb had a career-high school record 21 assists while Ellen Wilke had 9 kills and McKenzie Shaede recorded 13 digs for the Lady Cats.  To view the article in the Marion Daily, click here.

  • ALISON WEBB NAMED 2013 BDC "CAPTAIN" AND ALL-STATE "TOP 100"      

    Goreville High School Senior Alison Webb has been named "Captain" of the Black Diamond Conference West Volleyball 1st Team All-Conference for the 2nd year in a row!  She also became the first volleyball player in school history to make the "Top 100" list as she was named All-State Special Mention for all IHSA classes 1A-4A!

  • WEBB AND WILKE NAMED "ALL-SOUTH"

    10 BLACKCATS MAKE 2013 ALL-CONFERENCE 

    A record 10 Blackcats/Lady Blackcats were named All-Conference in the Black Diamond Conference fall seasons.  J.T. Russell (Senior) - 1st Team Golf; Madison Arnold (Freshman) - 1st Team Cross Country; Cody Edmonds (Senior) - 1st Team Defense Football; Connor Seavers (Junior) - 1st Team Defense Football; Alex Loyd (Senior) 2nd Team Offense Football; Colten Brown (Senior) - 2nd Team Offense Football; Dallas Mellot (Junior) - Honorable Mention Football; Alison Webb (Senior) - 1st Team West "Captain" Volleyball; Ellen Wilke (Senior) - 2nd Team West Volleyball; and Kaylee Webb (Senior) - 2nd Team West Volleyball. 

    Congratulations Blackcats and Lady Blackcats!!!  We are proud of you!!! 

  • 2013 LADY BLACKCATS VOLLEYBALL MAKE "SWEET 16" - END SEASON WITH MOST WINS IN HISTORY!     

    The Goreville Lady Blackcats Volleyball Team dominated Cobden in two sets to make them one of the "Sweet Sixteen" teams left playing in the State for the 1st time in history, but then fell to Valmeyer in the IHSA Sectional Finals.  To view the article in the Southern Illinoisan, click here.  The Lady Cats end the season with the best record in school history at 25-8.
