    OKLAHOMA!

The Goreville High School Drama Club presented "Oklahoma!" to large crowds on March 25 and 26 as well as a presentation to the students on March 25!  The show was set in the Indian Territory at the turn of the century when cattlemen and farmers were fighting over fences and water rights. In the middle of that controversy are two more rivalries: One between a cowboy called Curley (played by Colin Stone) and a hired hand named Jud, (played by Chisum Kirby) both in love with Laurey (Kasey Bishop). The second involved Ado Annie, (Marissa Melot) Will, (Robert Smith) Ali Hakim, (Nick Andros), and Aunt Eller (Samantha Manier) a group that provided plenty of laughs and great entertainment for the community!

Students from all over Goreville Schools participated in this year's musical production of "The Floating Princess" directed by Mrs. Barb Smith, Band Director.  The musical featured students from grades 3-12 and told the story of a Princess, played by Senior Karra Kirby, and the spell that her jealous aunt (played by Junior Kacy Andros) placed on her.  The spell made the Princess float and the only way to break the spell, was if the princess shed a tear. The musical was performed 5 times over a 3 day period at Goreville High School and was enjoyed by the entire community.
