The Goreville FFA Chapter competed in the National Chapter Award program sponsored through the National FFA Organization. The National Chapter Award is broken up into four parts: Growing Leaders, Building Communities, and Strengthening Agriculture, and an overall winner. The National Chapter award is designed to teach students the value of working on their chapter, the student, and the community. The Goreville FFA Chapter won the State in the area of Growing Leaders and placed 2nd overall in the State!
Congratulations to our Goreville High School Beta Club who returned from their National Convention in Orlando, Fl and for the first time in school history, won 4 national awards! Cole Rushing won 2nd Digital Art, Ty Robison 3rd Woodworking, Emma Forby 8th On-site Drawing and our Showchoir, which consisted of almost all of our attendees, placed 8th overall in the nation! With over 3,000 students from across the United States, the National Beta Convention is the largest nationwide competition consisting of all of the nation's best students.
Congratulations to the Goreville Early Learning Center as they were awarded the "Gold Circle of Quality" by the Illinois State Board of Education! The Gold Circle is the highest designation possible and it is the 3rd consecutive year that we have been awarded this designation.
The Goreville Marching Blackcats were AWESOME yesterday performing in the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, D.C. on national television!
Goreville CUSD 1 has been recognized as a Top 50 in the Nation "Future Ready School" with our work and progress toward our Technology Implementation Plan! Goreville Schools implemented our "1:1 Technology Initiative" Phase 1 that included Chromebooks for all high school students and enhanced broadband access in 2015 and will complete Phases 2 and 3 for the 2016-2017 school year that will provide IPads for K-4 students and Chromebooks for students in grades 5-8! We are PROUD of our school!
In 2014, Goreville Schools was designated as a SMART Technology Showcase School for their integration of SMART technology throughout the district. In 2015, they will take that a step forward with the launching of their 1:1 Technology Initiative
Goreville Elementary School and Goreville High School have been notified by SMART Technologies based out of Calgary, Canada, that they have been chosen as a "2012 Showcase School"!
